“Therefore, Beloved, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not vain.”
– 1 Corinthians 15:58
This was the daily verse of the day for Monday, August 27th. This verse is always fitting for any work, but today is a Monday, just like any other Monday. I am tired from all the weekend activities, such as yard work on Saturday and Church all day on Sunday.
So here we are on a Monday in late August, it is already hot early in the day and most likely going to get even hotter and more humid as there is a strong chance of rain today. Just one more thing to add on and it is already easy to get discouraged, particularly if you are in a tired, worn out state of mind like I was this morning.
This very verse really helped out this morning, before my feet even hit the floor, a great reminder that whatever your work is if you do it for the Lord, then it is never for naught. It’s also an encouragement to be steadfast, immovable and even go above and beyond in your work, we are to abound in the Lord’s work.
What is the Lord’s work, well I am glad you asked, to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world, that’s what we find in James, Chapter 1 verse 27.
